 Lhasa 每 Mt. Everest 10 Day Tour

Itinerary:

D01

Arrive at Gonggar Airport (3500m), welcome by the local tour guide, transfer 60km (paved road, about 1 hour drive ) to the city, drive along the Yalutsangpo River and Lhasa River, enjoy the Tibetan style villages and Nyetang Buddha ,check in hotel in Lhasa (3658m) and rest for acclimatization.

 

D02

Take a tour to Potala Palace. It was the local government location, and was divided into two parts, the white palace and red one ; It was also the highest castle-style palace in the world; Visit Jolkhang Temple and Barkhor Market, the heart of the old Lhasa town, here you＊ll enjoy fascinating combination of deep religiosity and push and shove market economics. In Tibetan Buddhism Jokhang is also regarded as the center of the Universe, it is a must sightseeing in Lhasa;

 

D03

Visit Drepung Monastery in the morning, which is the largest monastery in Tibet, founded in 1416 by disciple of Tsongkhapa called Jamyang Choje. then Sera Monastery in the afternoon, which was founded in 1419 by Sakya Yeshe, a disciple of Tsongkhapa. The most distinguished and interesting thing here is monks＊ debating about Buddhism. Then visit Lhobulingka (the jewel park in Tibetan) which was the summer palace of Dalai Lamas.

 

D04 

Drive to Gyantse via Yamdroyumtso Lake, which can be seen from Kanbala Pass (4794m) . It is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet and an important destination for pilgrimage. Live in Gyantse .

 

D05 

After visiting Palkhor Monastery, drive 90km to Shigatse, which is the second largest city in Tibet.  Visit to Shalu Monastery on route. Live in Shigatse .

 

D06 

A quick visit to Tashihunpo Monastery, then drive 250km to Tingri, on route visit to Sakya Monastery, which was founded in 1073 by Kon Konchok Gyelpo. After passing Lhatse County and Gyatsola Pass (5222m), arrive at Shegar (new Tingri). Live in Shegar.(4300m).

 

D07  

Up early for Mt Everest. Drive about 60km on the travel vehicles to Basong Town including a must stop at Chewula for possible vision of Mt Everest and some others. Take their environmental vehicles to Rongbuk Monastery which is the highest in the world, then take the horse-cart to the base camp. Live in the very simply-equipped hotel or guesthouse, or go back to live in Shegar;

 

D08 

Drive back to Shigatse from Shegar, live in Shigatse; 290km,half paved ,half rough road;

 

D09  

Drive back to Lhasa from Shigatse, take a good rest after the long hard trip ;Live in Lhasa˙

 

D10

Depart from Lhasa to the next destination.
